August 13 in profile
Late Leo has seen enough of the world to know its own mind. The third decan belongs to Aries, with Mars as sub-ruler, so the fixed fire of Leo gains the cardinal fire of Aries: impatience, decisiveness and a taste for being first. In a few years the Sun is still at the very end of the Jupiter decan on this date, keeping a wider, more easy-going note, but the core is a mature, ready-to-act Leo.
Choices are made quickly and then owned. They pick the restaurant, the holiday and the paint colour while others are still comparing. Mars dislikes dithering, and Leo dislikes looking unsure. When they get it wrong, they say so with style and move on. Group decisions frustrate them if they drag, and they may simply book the table to end the debate.
Taste is bold and edited. They prefer one striking piece to a crowd of small ones: a red coat, a bright front door, a single big plant in an otherwise plain room. Trends interest them only if they can wear them first. The useful habit is a second look before buying the statement piece, since a fast choice made at 20° Leo is usually right but occasionally expensive.
Leo all day
In every year from 1930 to 2040 the Sun was in Leo for the whole of August 13, in every time zone. This is not a cusp birthday: the nearest changes of sign fall around July 23 and August 22.
Your Moon sign depends on the year
The Sun is in the same place on August 13 every year; the Moon is not. It changes sign every two and a half days, so people who share this birthday can have any of the twelve Moon signs. Here is where it was on August 13 in recent years, from 00:00 to 23:59 UTC (an arrow means it changed sign during the day).

Compatible signs for a Leo
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Leo gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For an August 13 birthday, in the Aries decan, Aries is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.

Asked about August 13
What zodiac sign is August 13?
August 13 is Leo in every year: the Sun is at about 19°–22° Leo that day, in the sign’s 3rd decan.
Is August 13 a cusp birthday?
No. The Sun is well inside Leo on August 13. The cusp days, when the Sun changes sign, fall around July 23 and August 22. Astrology has no blended cusp signs anyway: at any moment the Sun is in one sign.
What decan is August 13?
August 13 falls in the 3rd decan of Leo. In the triplicity system we use, that decan belongs to Aries and its ruler Mars, which colours the Leo Sun with a little of Aries. In some years the Sun crosses into the next decan during the day.
Your birthday is only the Sun
An August 13 birthday tells you where the Sun was. The Moon, the Rising sign and eight more planets each sit somewhere of their own, and they depend on the year, the hour and the place. The free calculator shows all of them.
