Saturn in Aries
Your Saturn is in Aries: the return tests how you stand on your own. It asks for patience with your impulses and for taking the lead without bulldozing.
Your Saturn return is when Saturn comes back to the sign and degree it held at your birth, at about 29 to 30 and again near 58 to 60. Enter your birth date and you get both dates, how many times Saturn crosses your degree, and what the return asks of you.
Your first Saturn return comes at about age 29 to 30, the second at 58 to 60 and the third near 88. This free calculator lists the first two from your date of birth alone; add your birth time and city for exact days. Saturn can cross your birth degree once or three times because of its retrograde.
Saturn takes about 29.5 years to go around the zodiac. The return is the moment transiting Saturn reaches the longitude it had at your birth. We compute your natal Saturn and then follow Saturn day by day through the years around age 29.5 and 59, refining each crossing to about a minute.
Saturn turns retrograde for about four and a half months a year. Around your return it can cross your degree once, or three times: forwards, backwards, forwards. When it does, the three passes fall within about a year, and each one is listed with its date.
Saturn moves at most about 0.13° a day. Without your birth time we use noon on your birth date, so your natal degree is off by at most 0.07° and the return dates can be out by a few days, or more when Saturn is near a turning point. Add the time and city to remove that.
| Return | Age |
|---|---|
| First return | 29–30 |
| Second return | 58–60 |
| Third return | 87–89 |
Saturn takes about 29.5 years to go round the zodiac, so the ages are approximate and your own dates depend on your natal degree. The calculator lists the first two returns.

It happens when transiting Saturn returns to the exact position it held when you were born. The first one comes at about 29 to 30 years old, the second at about 58 to 60, the third near 88. Astrologers read the first as the move into adulthood proper: a review of commitments, work and what you are building.
The exact return is one crossing of your degree, or three crossings within about a year when Saturn turns retrograde. Astrologers also speak of a wider return period of roughly two years around it, while Saturn is within a few degrees of your natal degree. For scale, Saturn spends about two and a half years in each sign.
Because of retrograde motion. Seen from Earth, Saturn appears to move backwards for about four and a half months a year. If that happens as it reaches your degree, it crosses it, backs over it, and crosses it a third time, all within about a year. Many people have only one pass.
Not for a good estimate. Saturn moves slowly, so the date alone gets you within days for most people. With the time and city the dates are exact, which matters if Saturn was close to a station when you were born.
You may be in the return or just past it, and the calculator says so. The second return is also shown, which falls in your late fifties.
The year-ahead forecast follows Saturn and the other slow planets through your own chart, month by month. The natal chart book reads where Saturn sits in yours.
