Solar eclipse

Solar eclipse, 6 February 2027

On 6 February 2027 the New Moon in Aquarius is an annular solar eclipse, greatest at 15:59 UTC with the Sun and Moon together at 17°37′ Aquarius. The Moon is too far from Earth to cover the whole Sun, so along a narrow path a bright ring stays around it. That path runs across Chile and Argentina, brushes Uruguay and southern Brazil, crosses the Atlantic and reaches West Africa from Côte d’Ivoire to Nigeria; much of South America and Africa sees a partial eclipse.

Astrologically it is a New Moon close to the North Node, about 3° away, which is why it is an eclipse at all. New Moons start things; an eclipse New Moon starts things you did not quite schedule. Aquarius is about groups, networks and the future you share with other people. It also opens an eclipse season: two weeks later, on 20 February, the Full Moon in Virgo is a penumbral lunar eclipse.

Questions

Asked and answered

When exactly is the eclipse?

Greatest eclipse is on 6 Feb 2027, 15:59 UTC: an annular solar eclipse at 17°37′ Aquarius. The table above also shows it in your own time zone.

Can I see the 6 February 2027 eclipse?

The ring is visible only along the path of annularity: parts of Chile and Argentina, the edge of Uruguay and southern Brazil, then Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria. Much of South America and Africa sees a partial eclipse; Europe, Asia and North America see nothing. Never look at the Sun without certified eclipse glasses, even during annularity.

Which signs feel it most?

It falls in Aquarius, so for those Sun signs it is in the 1st house, the most personal one. Every sign meets it somewhere: the table shows the house for each. More precise is your own chart: if you have planets or your Rising sign near 17°37′ Aquarius, it is a bigger event for you.
