Limits and corrections
Where a Lunonis chart can be wrong, what our texts are and aren’t, and what we have had to correct.
Where a chart can be wrong
- No birth time. We leave out the Rising sign and the houses, and say so on the chart. The Moon can also change sign during the day, so it may be uncertain.
- A rounded or misremembered time. The Rising sign changes about every two hours and the Midheaven moves about a degree every four minutes. We can only calculate from the time you give us.
- An hour skipped or repeated by a clock change. If your time falls inside it, that time is ambiguous or doesn’t exist. We pick one reading, so the chart can be an hour out.
- Old time zone records. We use the IANA time zone database. Its records before about 1970 are less certain, and local practice could differ from them.
- Very high latitudes. Placidus houses stop working near the poles. There we use whole-sign houses and flag it on the chart.
- Other traditions. Our charts are tropical and geocentric. We don’t calculate sidereal or Vedic charts, so results won’t match those.
Our accuracy page shows the numbers for the positions themselves.
What our texts are
- They are written by AI. A language model writes from the positions we calculate. It doesn’t calculate anything itself, and it can still word something badly or draw a weak connection.
- People don’t read every text. People maintain the calculations, tests and writing rules, and read samples. How we calculate says exactly what is checked.
- Translations vary. Not every language has been reviewed by a native speaker.
- Astrology isn’t a science. Accurate astronomy doesn’t show that astrological meanings are true. Our texts are for reflection and entertainment, and they aren’t medical, psychological, financial or legal advice.
