The phase, Moon sign and void-of-course times are astronomy and are computed. The three right-hand columns are folk tradition, not tested science. We apply fixed rules and print them here.
Starting things: good in a waxing Moon, neutral in a waning one, avoid on the waning crescent days before the New Moon and when the Moon is void of course for 6 hours or more of the day.
Haircut: good with the Moon in Taurus, Cancer, Leo or Libra, avoid with the Moon in Aries, Gemini, Scorpio or Aquarius or when void. A waxing Moon is said to make hair grow faster, a waning Moon slower.
Garden: good with the Moon in a fertile sign (Taurus, Cancer, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces); sow leafy and fruiting crops while the Moon waxes and root crops while it wanes. Other signs are for weeding and tending, and a void Moon is a day off.
A day counts as void when the Moon is void of course for 6 hours or more of it. The Moon sign shown is the sign at the start of the UTC day; the following sign change is listed under it.
