October 17 in profile
Late Libra is the sign with its lessons learned, polished by experience and beginning to sense Scorpio ahead. The Gemini decan adds Mercury as sub-ruler, so the Venus grace comes with nimble speech and a love of variety. Traditional astrology links Spica, the brightest star in the constellation Virgo, with gifts and talent that bring their own rewards. An October 17 Libra is usually adept at something specific, a craft or a skill with words, and enjoys sharing it.
Rest for them is a change of channel rather than a full stop. They recharge with a crossword, a long phone call or a browse through a bookshop. Complete silence makes them restless. They may need someone to remind them that switching tasks is different from resting, especially when the week has been full of other people. An empty Sunday restores them only if a good conversation turns up somewhere in it.
Courage shows in the conversations they are willing to have: asking for a raise, ending a friendship that has gone sour, making a public point at a meeting. Physical risk interests them less, though they will try anything once if a friend comes along. The growth edge is acting on a decision before talking it through with everyone, since the extra opinions often dilute nerve.

Compatible signs for a Libra
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Libra gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For an October 17 birthday, in the Gemini decan, Gemini is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.
A gift for an October 17 birthday
A weekend of real switching off: a cottage with no wifi, a stack of crosswords, and a friend to talk with by the fire.
