Full moon calendar

Full moons in 2027

Twelve full moons this year, one a month and no Blue Moon. Three of them pass through Earth’s faint outer shadow as penumbral eclipses (20 February in Virgo, 18 July in Capricorn, 17 August in Aquarius), a slight dimming more than a visible bite. The Harvest Moon falls on 15 September.

All times are UTC (Universal Time, the same as GMT outside daylight-saving time). Add your time-zone offset for local time. An event late in the UTC day can fall on the next date in Asia and Australia, and one early in the UTC day on the previous date in the Americas.

Computed by Lunonis with our own ephemeris code (built on astronomy-engine, tested against Swiss Ephemeris): geocentric, tropical zodiac, true equinox of date. Lunation and eclipse times match NASA’s published tables to about a minute. Station times are good to within an hour or so: a planet barely moves at its station, so the exact minute is soft in any ephemeris.

What it means

What a full moon stands for

A full moon is the moment the Moon stands opposite the Sun, as seen from Earth, and its whole near side is lit. The Moon looks full for a night or so either side of the exact time listed here.

In astrology a full moon is often read as a culmination, when something that began at the new moon comes to light. The sign of the full moon is said to colour the theme, with the Sun’s sign opposite as its counterweight. It’s a symbolic rhythm to reflect with, not an event that makes anything happen.

The names are the traditional ones (mostly North American, through the Farmer’s Almanac): the Wolf Moon in January, the Harvest Moon nearest the September equinox, the Hunter’s Moon after it, and a Blue Moon when a calendar month has two. We name them by the UTC date.

These dates are the same for everyone. A personal forecast reads them against your own natal chart: which planets the transits touch, in which houses, by topic. Symbolic guidance for reflection, never predictions about health or money.
