May 11 brings the Sun to about 20° Taurus, the doorway of the third decan, where Capricorn’s Saturn lends Venus’s sign a seasoned patience and a builder’s eye.

May 11 in profile
Twenty degrees marks the start of late Taurus. The sign has been through its raw and its typical stages and now carries itself with experience. In most years May 11 falls in the third decan, Capricorn by sub-sign and Saturn by sub-ruler, though some years keep it at the very end of the Mercury decan. Saturn gives this earthy, pleasure-loving sign a sense of time and consequence. A May 11 Taurus wants what they make to outlast them.
Creativity takes durable forms. They might build a dry-stone wall, train a fruit tree against a fence over years or sew a quilt meant for grandchildren. Play is earnest but warm: a long game of chess with a regular opponent, a choir that rehearses every Thursday. They enjoy improving at something slowly, and the satisfaction comes as much from the discipline as from the finished thing.
Generosity is practical and long-term. They lend tools, help a friend move house and turn up again a month later to fix the shelf that was never quite level. They give money carefully, often to causes with visible results. Saturn makes them dislike being thanked loudly. The growth edge is letting others help in return, so the giving runs in both directions instead of always flowing outward.
Taurus all day
In every year from 1930 to 2040 the Sun was in Taurus for the whole of May 11, in every time zone. This is not a cusp birthday: the nearest changes of sign fall around April 21 and May 20.
Your Moon sign depends on the year
The Sun is in the same place on May 11 every year; the Moon is not. It changes sign every two and a half days, so people who share this birthday can have any of the twelve Moon signs. Compatible signs for a Taurus
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Taurus gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For a May 11 birthday, in the Capricorn decan, Capricorn is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.
A gift for a May 11 birthday
A young fruit tree or a hardy perennial for their garden or balcony, given with the promise of help planting it, a present that grows slowly year after year.
Asked about May 11
What zodiac sign is May 11?
May 11 is Taurus in every year: the Sun is at about 19°–22° Taurus that day, in the sign’s 3rd decan.
Is May 11 a cusp birthday?
No. The Sun is well inside Taurus on May 11. The cusp days, when the Sun changes sign, fall around April 21 and May 20. Astrology has no blended cusp signs anyway: at any moment the Sun is in one sign.
What decan is May 11?
May 11 falls in the 3rd decan of Taurus. In the triplicity system we use, that decan belongs to Capricorn and its ruler Saturn, which colours the Taurus Sun with a little of Capricorn. In some years the Sun crosses into the next decan during the day.
Your birthday is only the Sun
A May 11 birthday tells you where the Sun was. The Moon, the Rising sign and eight more planets each sit somewhere of their own, and they depend on the year, the hour and the place. The free calculator shows all of them.
