May 12 in profile
At about 21°, Taurus is in its seasoned phase. The sign knows what it values and has stopped apologising for it. The third decan adds Capricorn as sub-sign and Saturn as sub-ruler, which brings a sober, long-view quality to Venus’s love of comfort. A May 12 Taurus tends to seem older than their age when young and younger than their age later. They like tradition, solid furniture and plans measured in years.
They speak sparingly and mean every word. In a meeting they let others talk, then sum up the real issue in two sentences. Written messages are short and correctly spelled. Small talk is fine with neighbours, but they find long phone calls about nothing tiring. When they do open up, usually late in the evening over food, the stories are dry, funny and surprisingly personal.
Friendship is a long investment. They may have only four or five close friends, several of them from school or an early job, and they keep track of birthdays, children’s names and old jokes. They show up for the dull parts of life, the hospital visits and the house moves. The useful habit is reaching out first now and then, since Saturn’s reserve can make them wait to be asked.
Taurus all day
In every year from 1930 to 2040 the Sun was in Taurus for the whole of May 12, in every time zone. This is not a cusp birthday: the nearest changes of sign fall around April 21 and May 20.

Compatible signs for a Taurus
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Taurus gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For a May 12 birthday, in the Capricorn decan, Capricorn is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.
A gift for a May 12 birthday
A dinner with their two or three oldest friends at a favourite restaurant, organised by someone else for once, with the bill quietly settled in advance.
