December 3 zodiac sign
At about 11° Sagittarius, a December 3 birthday sits early in the Mars-flavoured second decan, where big plans get a starting pistol rather than another round of talk.

December 3 in profile
Middle Sagittarius is the sign at ease with itself: mutable fire, ruled by Jupiter, curious and outspoken. The second decan borrows Aries as its sub-sign and Mars as sub-ruler, so ideas acquire a deadline. At 11° the Sun has only just left the first decan behind, and in a few years it still sits there, so the pure Jupiter optimism lingers. The combination produces someone who thinks in continents and acts in sprints.
Ambition here is broad and slightly impatient. A December 3 Sagittarius wants a life that covers a lot of ground: a career in two countries, a book written by forty, a skill learned from scratch each decade. They set targets publicly, which keeps them honest. Setbacks get reframed as detours within a day. What bores them is a ladder with fixed rungs. They would rather climb something with no path marked at all.
First impressions are loud and friendly. They arrive mid-story, shake hands firmly and ask a question that skips three levels of small talk. Some people find this refreshing; others find it a lot. The habit that serves them is a slower second meeting, where they listen more than they speak and let the other person catch up with the energy of the first.
Sagittarius all day
In every year from 1930 to 2040 the Sun was in Sagittarius for the whole of December 3, in every time zone. This is not a cusp birthday: the nearest changes of sign fall around November 23 and December 21.
Your Moon sign depends on the year
The Sun is in the same place on December 3 every year; the Moon is not. It changes sign every two and a half days, so people who share this birthday can have any of the twelve Moon signs. Compatible signs for a Sagittarius
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Sagittarius gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For a December 3 birthday, in the Aries decan, Aries is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.

Asked about December 3
What zodiac sign is December 3?
December 3 is Sagittarius in every year: the Sun is at about 9°–13° Sagittarius that day, in the sign’s 2nd decan.
Is December 3 a cusp birthday?
No. The Sun is well inside Sagittarius on December 3. The cusp days, when the Sun changes sign, fall around November 23 and December 21. Astrology has no blended cusp signs anyway: at any moment the Sun is in one sign.
What decan is December 3?
December 3 falls in the 2nd decan of Sagittarius. In the triplicity system we use, that decan belongs to Aries and its ruler Mars, which colours the Sagittarius Sun with a little of Aries. In some years the Sun crosses into the next decan during the day.
Your birthday is only the Sun
A December 3 birthday tells you where the Sun was. The Moon, the Rising sign and eight more planets each sit somewhere of their own, and they depend on the year, the hour and the place. The free calculator shows all of them.
