December 9 in profile
At 17° Sagittarius is mature but not yet tired, the middle degrees giving the sign its most even expression. Jupiter supplies generosity and a sense of meaning; Mars, via the Aries sub-sign of this decan, supplies drive and directness. The two together produce someone who wants a big life and is willing to argue for it at the dinner table. A December 9 Sagittarius carries fire into domestic life, which keeps it lively and occasionally noisy.
Home is where debates happen. Family meals turn into discussions about politics, travel or the right way to cook rice, and they enjoy every round. They protect siblings and parents in a practical way: fixing things, driving people to airports, sorting paperwork. A tidy house matters less to them than an open door. Guests stay later than planned and nobody minds.
Communication is blunt and fast, often with humour as the cushion. Messages arrive in bursts, typed on the move, with plenty of exclamation marks. Tact is a skill they can learn but do not naturally reach for. Phone calls are short and end abruptly once the point is made. Reading important messages aloud once before sending catches the line that sounds harsher on the screen than it did in their head.
Sagittarius all day
In every year from 1930 to 2040 the Sun was in Sagittarius for the whole of December 9, in every time zone. This is not a cusp birthday: the nearest changes of sign fall around November 23 and December 21.

Compatible signs for a Sagittarius
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Sagittarius gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For a December 9 birthday, in the Aries decan, Aries is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.
