July 5 in profile
Thirteen degrees is Cancer at full strength, and here the sign’s instinct to shelter people meets Scorpio’s instinct to probe them. Mars, the sub-ruler, gives that combination a firm spine. Traditional astrology ties Sirius, the dog star, with brilliance and devotion, and both fit this date: a July 5 Cancer tends to shine most when committed to a person or a cause. They feel first and analyse later, and the feelings rarely fade.
Their talk is indirect at the start and pointed at the end. They open with a question about your mother, listen for twenty minutes and then say the one sentence you needed to hear. Texts are short; phone calls are long. In a group chat they go quiet when hurt, and the silence is the message. Saying what they want plainly takes effort. A voice note from them usually runs to four minutes and ends with a joke.
Friendship is built slowly and kept for life. They still meet the person they sat beside at nursery, and they remember allergies, anniversaries and the name of every friend’s cat. New people must pass a long, invisible probation. Once inside, the loyalty is total. Breaking a confidence is the one thing they find hard to forgive. The useful habit is letting a few newer friends in faster, since the probation sometimes costs them good company.
Cancer all day
In every year from 1930 to 2040 the Sun was in Cancer for the whole of July 5, in every time zone. This is not a cusp birthday: the nearest changes of sign fall around June 22 and July 22.
Your Moon sign depends on the year
The Sun is in the same place on July 5 every year; the Moon is not. It changes sign every two and a half days, so people who share this birthday can have any of the twelve Moon signs. Compatible signs for a Cancer
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Cancer gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For a July 5 birthday, in the Scorpio decan, Scorpio is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.
A gift for a July 5 birthday
An evening spent with old friends they rarely see, arranged in secret: a long table, home cooking and one framed photograph from the earliest years of the friendship.

Your birthday is only the Sun
A July 5 birthday tells you where the Sun was. The Moon, the Rising sign and eight more planets each sit somewhere of their own, and they depend on the year, the hour and the place. The free calculator shows all of them.
