July 8 zodiac sign
Sixteen degrees into Cancer, July 8 holds the sign at its steadiest, with Scorpio’s sub-ruler Mars adding the patience to wait for the right moment.

July 8 in profile
Cancer in its middle degrees shows the sign without hurry: devoted to its own circle, alert to atmosphere and reluctant to let go. The second decan places Scorpio inside that picture, with Mars as the traditional sub-ruler. On this date that produces someone who notices everything and reveals little. A July 8 Cancer can sit through a whole dinner saying almost nothing, then name, in the taxi home, exactly who was unhappy and why.
Decisions are slow, private and then final. They consult two trusted people, never a crowd, and they often sleep on even a small choice such as which sofa to buy. Once settled, they resist being talked out of it. A rushed choice made under pressure from others tends to be the one they later regret most. Menus with forty dishes trouble them; they tend to order the same favourite at every restaurant they love.
Style leans towards the inherited and the lasting: a grandfather’s coat, wooden furniture, a dark colour palette, kitchens that look lived in. Trends leave them cold. Their homes feel like a shelter, with low lamps and plenty of blankets. Guests often say the sofa is the most comfortable they have ever sat on. The useful habit is letting one bold piece in each year, so the comfort of the familiar does not turn into a museum.
Cancer all day
In every year from 1930 to 2040 the Sun was in Cancer for the whole of July 8, in every time zone. This is not a cusp birthday: the nearest changes of sign fall around June 22 and July 22.
Your Moon sign depends on the year
The Sun is in the same place on July 8 every year; the Moon is not. It changes sign every two and a half days, so people who share this birthday can have any of the twelve Moon signs. Compatible signs for a Cancer
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Cancer gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For a July 8 birthday, in the Scorpio decan, Scorpio is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.
A gift for a July 8 birthday
A piece of heirloom-quality craft, such as a hand-thrown serving bowl or a wool throw from a small weaver, chosen to last long enough to be passed down.

Your birthday is only the Sun
A July 8 birthday tells you where the Sun was. The Moon, the Rising sign and eight more planets each sit somewhere of their own, and they depend on the year, the hour and the place. The free calculator shows all of them.
