Pluto in the signs
Pluto is the slowest body astrologers use, so its sign marks a generation: the power struggles, taboos and rebuilding work a whole cohort is handed together.

What Pluto means
In a natal chart Pluto stands for power and what happens to it: who holds it, who loses it, and what has to be broken down before something can grow back. It governs obsession, secrets, the things a family or a society refuses to discuss, and the slow regeneration that follows a real ending. Modern astrologers give it rulership of Scorpio alongside the traditional ruler, Mars.
Pluto stays in one sign for 12 to 31 years. Its orbit is so lopsided that it races through Scorpio in about twelve years and lingers in Taurus and Gemini for around thirty. Everyone born across that stretch shares the same Pluto sign, so the sign describes a generation more than a person: the climate its members grew up in, the collapse or reconstruction they were born into, and the subjects they will not leave alone. Your Pluto becomes personal through its house, through tight aspects to your Sun, Moon, Ascendant or personal planets, and when it sits close to an angle of the chart.
Because of that long stay, a few of these pages describe eras rather than readers. Nobody alive has Pluto in Aries or Taurus, almost nobody has it in Gemini, the Aquarius generation is being born now and Pisces is still to come. For everyone else, your birth date alone is enough to know which sign Pluto was in; the house it occupies needs your birth time and place.
