At about 13° Taurus, the May 4 Sun sits in the heart of the Mercury decan, so this earth sign learns by handling things and keeps its own counsel about how to live.

May 4 in profile
Thirteen degrees in, Taurus has stopped testing the ground and simply stands on it. The middle of the sign brings its classic traits: endurance, sensuality, a long memory and a strong preference for the known. The second decan, with Virgo as sub-sign and Mercury as sub-ruler, adds a working mind to the solid body. A May 4 Taurus thinks with their hands, takes things apart to understand them and wants knowledge they can use by next Tuesday.
Learning is hands-on and thorough. They would rather spend a month mastering one recipe, one piece of software or one guitar song than skim ten. In a class they sit near the front, ask the practical question everyone else was wondering about and take tidy notes. Once they learn something properly, it stays learned, and they become the person colleagues ask when the manual is missing.
Independence for this Taurus means control over their own time and space. They dislike being rushed, managed or told how to arrange their desk. Freedom looks like a paid-off car, a garden of their own, a job where results count more than hours. The growth point is to notice when guarding their routine has turned into refusing help, and to accept an offer before the load gets heavy.
Taurus all day
In every year from 1930 to 2040 the Sun was in Taurus for the whole of May 4, in every time zone. This is not a cusp birthday: the nearest changes of sign fall around April 21 and May 20.
Your Moon sign depends on the year
The Sun is in the same place on May 4 every year; the Moon is not. It changes sign every two and a half days, so people who share this birthday can have any of the twelve Moon signs. Compatible signs for a Taurus
Sun-sign compatibility starts from the element. Taurus gets on most easily with its own element and with the two sextile signs, and feels the strongest pull from its opposite. For a May 4 birthday, in the Virgo decan, Virgo is a natural match. The full charts decide how a real pairing feels.
A gift for a May 4 birthday
A practical workshop where they make something to keep, such as pottery, woodwork or leather stitching, with enough sessions to finish a proper piece.

Your birthday is only the Sun
A May 4 birthday tells you where the Sun was. The Moon, the Rising sign and eight more planets each sit somewhere of their own, and they depend on the year, the hour and the place. The free calculator shows all of them.
